Glorious! Learnt much!

My biology project on the phototaxis of Paramecium really is paying off! I observed some peculiar things today. First off, the paramecium seem to be doing the opposite. Perhaps this is due to paramecium needing a perfect in-between? Not too bright a light?

Another, though they technically change their velocity only when they come across an obstacle, I observe that that is not the case. They seem to travel a bit, then stop, decide where to go for a few moments, and go off. Even when there doesn't appear to be anything to block them! Most interesting.

Another mystery. There are these weird spongy-porous-looking splotches at different parts of the containing tube under a microscope of 10X magnification. Could they be the remains of the paramecium that died?
